On Saturday I went to watch The Mortal Instruments with my family. Many of my sister's friends liked it and some even watched it twice, so we decided to go watch it. I always have been a fan of fantasy movies, with magic and witches, because it felt like I was in another universe, so I was quite excited for this movie. The movie was pretty easy to catch on, but, call me slow or whatever, it was a little confusing. Suddenly this guy called Valentino appeared and I didn't really know who he was, and I swear I was paying attention to the movie.
The casting was PERF.
Choosing Lily Collins as Clary Fray, the lead, was spot on. She has the sweet girl next door look at the start of the movie, and then she can be dolled up to look like a badass shadowhunter. Not to mention she was a pretty good actress. Oh, and she's sooo pretty! (I'm obsessed with her eyebrows)
Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace Wayland, Clary's love interest was a good choice too. Even though my first impression was " they should have gotten a hotter guy ' , Jamie did look like a warrior kind of person, and suited the role as a shadowhunter. Besides, he's British, that's more than enough to be hot. No matter how perfect Bower is, Alex Pettyfer did have more of the shadowhunter build. He was supposed to play the role as Jace, but he rejected the offer.
Robert Sheehan acted great as Simon Lewis. For one, he's pretty famous since he acts in the show Misfits, so it does help to boost the movie ratings. Secondly, he has the " geek but i wanna help " look, which fits so perfectly in the show, guess he isn't a Misfit after all.
The other two people that played Alec (Kevin Zegers) and Isabelle (Jemima West) Lightwood was good too. Alec has the 'gay' look, since he's supposed to be gay. And Isabelle, OMG, she really looked like a sexy female shadowhunter. Thumbs up!
After watching the movie, I had mixed feelings. I absolutely loved the movie, but I felt that the ending was a little disappointing. I thought it would be better if the mother awoke and told Clary and Jace that they were not siblings. Also, the identity of the potion Clary's mom drank should have been revealed.
I was also like, why is it suddenly snowing?? The institute is a building, it can't snow indoors.. This doesn't make sense. But then my dad reminded me the whole movie doesn't make sense as it is fictional.

Oh apparently Lily Collins and Jamie Bower broke up a month ago after dating for a year. They broke up days after the release of The Mortal Instruments. Sounds familiar? Lily dated "Abduction" co-star Taylor Lautner but split shortly before the nationwide release of the film. Hmm..
Overall I thought this was a great movie. All of you should watch it!! =)
